Member Spotlight: Shante’ Williams – Dancing Through Life with Joy and Curiosity
Some people move through life. Shante’ Williams dances through it. Born in Garland and raised in East Texas, she returned to Dallas in 2019 and quickly found her rhythm within DFW Young & Social. Whether she’s sketching marine mammals, experimenting with marimba sounds, or spinning across a ballroom floor, Shante’s story is one of curiosity, creativity, and belonging.

Background, Journey & Passions
Shante’ grew up in East Texas but returned to the Dallas area in 2019 to be closer to family. That move opened new doors, including reconnecting with her birthplace and pursuing new hobbies.
“I geek over marine mammals like teens do over celebrities,”
Learning and creativity fuel her days, whether she’s sketching, dancing, or experimenting with music.
Her love for marine life, especially marine mammals, shows a deep curiosity about the world. It’s this same curiosity that draws her to new experiences, from ballroom dancing to trying out different instruments.
Community Connection
Shante’s search for ballroom dance classes led her to discover DFW Young & Social on Meetup. From her very first social, she knew she had found something unique.
“My favorite experience has been the monthly dance socials. I love dancing and experimenting with old and new moves,” she says. What started as a search for dance turned into a true sense of belonging. “I’ve been to places before where you’re just there, but this place feels like I belong here.”
Life Beyond Work
Dance may be her first love, but Shante’ has another musical talent: the marimba. Depending on her mood, she’ll practice song covers, create new sounds, or just pick up her drumsticks for fun.
Travel is another passion. She recalls Alaska as her favorite trip so far, where she saw the northern lights for the first time. Her dream is to set foot on all seven continents, with the Galapagos Islands at the top of her list.
Looking Ahead
If she could pass on advice, it would be the same wisdom she’s embraced herself:
“It’s ok to be weird… there will be people who love you for it!”
From sketches of whales to spins on the dance floor, Shante’ Williams lives her life with joy, rhythm, and curiosity. She reminds us that finding belonging can be rare, but when you do, it’s nothing short of special.
