Member Spotlight: Davi Bezerra – The Code Crafter with a Heart for Connection
You never forget your first computer — especially when it’s broken and found on the side of the road. For Davi Bezerra, a software developer originally from Brazil, that moment sparked a lifelong love of technology. But it’s not all code and circuits. Whether it’s designing experimental birthday games for friends or building connection through book club banter, Davi brings curiosity, creativity, and kindness to every corner of DFW Young & Social.
Davi Bezerra
“Hey there, I’m Davi! I’m a lover of all things nerdy and you can usually catch me at the book club or the board game night :D
”
Background & Journey
Davi grew up in Brazil and spent most of their life there before an unexpected work opportunity offered a big leap: a chance to relocate to Dallas.
“I always knew I wanted to leave eventually,”
It wasn’t their first bold move. As a kid, Davi once rescued a broken laptop from the street, mesmerized by the blinking "disk not found" message.
“I kept pressing keys and looking at the screen for hours,”
they said. That was the spark that led to a career in software development — and a lifelong love of tech.
Passions & Work
Davi’s creativity doesn’t stop at the office. One of their favorite traditions is making experimental video games as birthday presents for friends.
“It’s my way of giving something personal,”
Each game is unique, a digital snapshot of friendship.
More recently, they’ve been diving into cooking — Italian food, specifically. With a new pasta roller and a few sauces under their belt, they’re savoring the process one meal at a time.
“It’s nothing advanced, but it’s really fun so far.”
Community Connection
When Davi moved to Dallas, they were looking for something more than just things to do — they were looking for a way to belong. A quick search on Meetup led them to DFW Young & Social’s board game night.
“I love board games!” they said. “I went to one event, then another, then I found the book club, volunteering...”
A favorite moment? Seeing someone from book club at a game night and diving into a conversation they’d started in the Discord server.
“It made me realize people are here to form real connections.”
To Davi, the community offers something rare: a “third place” — not work, not home, but a space people choose to show up to, just as they are.
Life Beyond Work
Davi’s free time is a celebration of play — whether it’s 12-hour board game marathons, 500-hour RPGs, or escape room adventures.
“I did all the escape rooms in São Paulo city before moving here,” they said proudly, “and I’m on my way to doing the same in Dallas!”
They’re also a big fan of big cities.
“NYC is fantastic,” Davi said. “I could spend all day just walking around and staring at tall buildings.”
For someone who loves tech and puzzles, it makes sense — there’s a rhythm and logic to cities that mirrors the joy of solving something complex.
Looking Ahead
These days, Davi is challenging themselves in a different way: going out at least once a week.
“I used to be pretty shut-in,” they said. “It’s a small step, but it’s really helped my mental health.”
When asked what advice they’d give their younger self, Davi offered this:
“You have the power to change things… An extraordinary feat is just what a series of small, unremarkable actions look like from a distance.”
Whether debugging a screen, crafting a birthday game, or leaning into a new community, Davi reminds us: you're allowed to take up space — and maybe, even build something beautiful in it.
